Strolling

In a city still graced with green spaces, quiet streets and large promenades.

From Post Office Square to the Royal Palace, a large section of Sisowath Quay, downtown Phnom Penh riverfront, is now pedestrian-only every Saturday and Sunday evening from 6 PM to 2 PM.

The large artery, fronted by elegant buildings and lively eateries, follows the course of the Tonle Sap, "the freshwater river."

  • Live music, theater and dance performances.
  • Cyclopousses available for who can't stroll as easily as in their prime youth.
  • For Pavilion guests, best way to join is to reach Riverside via Street 240 (15 min. walk).

A tree-lined street - one of the oldest arteries in historic Phnom Penh - graced with boutique shops, cooperatives, art galleries and independent cafés.

The area is known for its selection of fashion - including elsewhere brand -, home decor, and ethically made Cambodian products, making it a relaxed spot for browsing. Perfect for visitors interested in local design and thoughtful, high-quality souvenirs. (photo: Waterlily, one of the many charming boutiques on the street, by The Lost Pinay)

  • 200 m from your hotel [turn left after exiting, then left at the stop light to walk this section of Street 240 (Oknha Chhun) leading to Preah Norodom Boulevard].

Across the spectacular Koh Norea Bridge, a pleasant walk through a developing riverside area offering open views of the Mekong and a quieter pace than what the city center allows.

Green public spaces dot the large walkways, fresh air and great views on the city skyline on the other side, as well as little kiosks for refreshments. (photos by HKA, 18Tour)

Designed as a showcase of modern urban living, Borey Peng Huot (បុរី in Khmer, 'gated housing community') residential and lifestyle district reflects Phnom Penh’s rapid urban development.

The area features wide boulevards, landscaped public spaces, and striking architectural elements, including reproductions inspired by famous European monuments that create an unexpected and distinctive atmosphere. (photo provided)
